mBrainTrain is a technology company in the domain of mobile brainwave reading (EEG). It creates solutions for researchers across the globe that enable them to explore brain functioning in various conditions.

As part of their journey on BlockStart’s Acceleration Programme, as an SME adopter, they were looking for new opportunities for collaboration with technology providers of DLT/blockchain solutions that could improve their business. This is the testimonial of their experience in our programme.

In one paragraph, what is mBrainTrain?

mBrainTrain is a technology company in the domain of mobile brainwave reading (EEG). It creates solutions for researchers across the globe that enable them to explore brain functioning in various conditions. mBrainTrains solutions are seamless and easy to use, which allows scientists to focus on what they do best and not be bothered by the tools they use. mBrainTrains solutions are present in almost 40 countries today and have been used to produce numerous scientific output.

What is mBrainTrain passionate about achieving?

mBrainTrain is passionate about putting brainwave recordings in everyday use, for the benefit of mankind. This would constitute a new interface that would help us live happier lives, focus on what is important, achieve our goals – all by deeper insights on how our brains work and what can we do to “assist” them. The same kind of interfaces would also be a huge leap in the medical space, providing early diagnosis and prevention of neurological diseases.

Can you tell us why you have decided to apply to BlockStart’s Call for end-user SMEs?

We have seen that this call is indeed addressed to companies like mBrainTrain. This is not often the case – and small companies are forced to use (non-perfect) solutions that are actually fine-tuned to other needs. In BlockStart, we were able to be a part of solution creation, tell what is important to us and share our feedback directly with Infidia creators.

What major challenges have you faced during the implementation/testing of BlockStart’s blockchain-based solution?

Coming from outside of the world of finances, we had a “cold” start that took some time to understand each other, and establish a common “vocabulary”. After this was finished, we had a challenge describing our procurement process and its variations – to establish what is the minimal basis of applying the Infidia solution. We also saw the perspective of other SMEs and their different businesses – we believe this helped identify the basis of Infidia’s MVP, their place in the process and established Blockchain as one of the trust value creators in the risk-assessment process.

What kind of impact do you think the blockchain-based solution you have implemented in the scope of BlockStart may bring to your company?

We will continue to communicate with Infidia and test their solutions. Their service, once the financial providers are onboard, will be of use to us. Also, the blockchain understanding will be crucial for our future in more ways than one – smart contracts, and safe data storage are immediate candidates. We believe our knowledge of Blockchain enhanced and that we are in a position to pursue this further.

Where do you see your company in 5 years?

As a technology provider, mBrainTrain should be identified as a market leader in research industry of mobile EEG, but also more. We see that a lot of companies go forward with certain applications related to EEG, but fail to have enough resources to created their own solutions. mBrainTrain can bridge that gap and act as a custom solution and platform provider. We also are likely to come up with one or two application solutions ourselves.
