Janis Sauka Meistardarb provides quality meat products for its customers in Latvia.

As part of their journey on BlockStart’s Acceleration Programme, as an SME adopter, they were looking for new opportunities for collaboration with technology providers of DLT/blockchain solutions that could improve their business. This is the testimonial of their experience in our programme.

In one paragraph, what is Janis Sauka Meistarbarb?

We produce best quality meat products and sell fresh meat in multiple locations. We own our supply chains and manage our own shops.

What is Janis Sauka Meistarbarb passionate about achieving?

Best quality meat and pastry products with strong brand presence in the market.

Can you tell us why you have decided to apply to BlockStart’s Call for end-user SMEs?

Previously we did not have any detailed monitoring information about our products and operations. We saw this as a great chance to test out some latest technology while providing information for product development. It is always great to be part of something new, which has a high chance of adoption.

What major challenges have you faced during the implementation/testing of BlockStart’s blockchain-based solution?

Originally, Kedeon’s solution was designed more for delivery companies and monitoring delivery operations. So, we had to come up with some different use cases for this, because we deliver only to our own stores in refrigerated trucks and fail % is quite small. This is why we decided to test the idea of opening up our small supply chain and providing information to our buyers.

What kind of impact do you think the blockchain-based solution you have implemented in the scope of BlockStart may bring to your company?

We hope that this will help to establish better brand image and customers will see us as a trusted store and meat producer.

Where do you see your company in 5 years?

We want to expand and establish more stores. Maybe even export later on, and this solution would help us to do that.
