Blue Circle is a company that grows and farms specific species of fish – arctic charr – and provides delivery to end consumers and also supermarkets.

As part of their journey on BlockStart’s Acceleration Programme, as an SME adopter, they were looking for new opportunities for collaboration with technology providers of DLT/blockchain solutions that could improve their business. This is the testimonial of their experience in our programme.

In one paragraph, what is Blue Circle?

Blue circle is a company that grows and farms specific species of fish – arctic charr.  We provide delivery to end consumers and also provide our products to supermarkets.

What is Blue Circle passionate about achieving?

We want to be able to provide our products to an increasing number of EU markets. Provide the highest quality fish products to our customers.

Can you tell us why you have decided to apply to BlockStart’s Call for end-user SMEs?

It was a great opportunity to test out new technology solutions which could help us to provide a better product, and especially be useful for the export to new markets.

What major challenges have you faced during the implementation/testing of BlockStart’s blockchain-based solution?

We are delivering our products in Estonia. And the technology that currently is used in devices is not yet rolled out in Estonia. So, there is no option to get real-time data outside borders of Latvia at this moment, but Kedeon is working on it.

What kind of impact do you think the blockchain-based solution you have implemented in the scope of BlockStart may bring to your company?

This product will provide us with useful data that can be used in optimizing our logistic operations and providing this information to buyers and end consumers when we are ready to do it.

Where do you see your company in 5 years?

We are planning to expand our operations and do export to new markets.
